Terms & Conditions - the basics

1. Introduction

Welcome to Horus House Holistic Counselling Service (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By booking or attending a session, accessing our website horushouseholistic.com, or otherwise engaging our services, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These terms outline the rights, responsibilities, and obligations between you (the “client”) and us.

2. Services

We provide counselling, mental health support, grief and bereavement support, and related holistic wellbeing services. Sessions are delivered via Telehealth (online video/phone).

 

Our services are not a substitute for emergency medical or psychiatric care. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, please contact emergency services (000 in Australia) or attend your nearest hospital.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to access our counselling services. Clients under 18 require parental/guardian consent.

4. Confidentiality & Privacy

  • All sessions are confidential and your information will not be shared without your consent, except where required by law (e.g., risk of harm to self/others, child protection, court orders).

  • We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and relevant health record legislation.

  • Records are stored securely in line with professional, ethical, and legal requirements.

5. Fees & Payments

  • Fees are payable at the time of booking or immediately following a session.

  • Payment options include bank transfer or PayPal.

  • Medicare rebates may apply where eligible (for services delivered by a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker under a GP referral).

  • All outstanding balances must be cleared before further sessions are booked.

6. Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.

  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a fee of up to 50% of the session cost.

  • Exceptions may be considered in extenuating circumstances.

 

7. Telehealth Sessions

  • Clients are responsible for ensuring they have access to a secure and private environment during Telehealth sessions.

  • We are not liable for disruptions caused by internet/technical issues beyond our control.

8. Code of Conduct

Clients are expected to:

 

  • Treat staff and services with respect.

  • Engage in sessions free from alcohol or non-prescribed drug influence.

  • Understand that aggressive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour may result in termination of services.

9. Disclaimer

  • Counselling outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Progress depends on individual circumstances and engagement.

  • Information provided in sessions or on our website/social media is for general educational purposes and does not replace professional medical or psychiatric advice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct or indirect loss, damage, or injury arising from the use of our services, except as required under Australian Consumer Law.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Updated versions will be published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
